'The last time Robert Herlitschek walked on French soil, he only trudged 100 yards before a German soldier shot him through the arm. A medic swept him onto a boat back to England. He was 23 then. Recently, at 94, Herlitschek returned to the Norman beaches he helped invade on D-Day, June 6, 1944.'
